Fairy Tale Week
Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing as well as can be!
Miss Danielle and I have been working together on lessons for the upcoming weeks to help keep all your kids active and learning and involved. It was my intention to just email all the parents in my class the lessons weekly. However, I have received some automated messages reporting that maybe some of you didn't receive the email I sent out earlier.
If you are having trouble viewing the email or didn't receive it, please email me so I can make sure I have the correct address. For now, below you should find the lessons I attempted to send out earlier. I hope you'll send in pictures/ videos because I would love to see them : )

Remote Learning W3 Nursery Rhymes
& Fairy Tales
MATH
*Flip 5-
Using numbers 0-5 with uno cards or numbers 1-4 on a deck of cards, set up
cards like the game memory (face down in rows). Take turns flipping 2 cards. If
they equal 5, keep the cards; if not, flip back over.
*Play-doh Shapes & Sizes- Talk about/review shapes and
sizes (small, medium, large). Call out a simple shape (circle, ball, line,
square) and have your child create that shape in the three sizes.
*Humpty Dumpty Puzzle – Use paper plate (or white paper you cut in an
oval shape if you don’t have plates) and cut into a 5-6 pieces and have your
child complete to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. You can make this
project last longer by taping the pieces together and then letting your child
draw a face and decorate Humpty Dumpty
*Rapunzel’s Tower Use paper cups, blocks, Legos,
whatever you think would work to build Rapunzel’s tower- see how tall you can
make it
*Shape Tracing Find objects around your house with
your child like bowls, cups, books, ect and have your child trace the object
and see if they can tell you what shape it is. For extra practice, you can see
if they can cut the shape they have traced
SCIENCE
*Blindfolded
Activity- Read or watch Three Blind Mice. After, use a
cloth or another item to create a blindfold for your child. Have a cup and
about 10 small items available and spread on the floor/table in front of
him/her. Your child must put as many small items in the cup in an allotted
amount of time (or you can time how fast it takes him/her to find and place all
items in the cup). You can give directions on finding the items, if needed.
Allow your child to blindfold you and help you find the items.
*Three Little Pigs STEM- Read or Listen to The Three Little
Pigs. What did the pigs use to build their houses? In this activity, use small
sticks, red Legos or block if you have, and some hay or straws. Allow your
child to build each pig’s house using the supplies given. Which is strongest?
Weakest? Why?
*Princess And The Pea – Place a ball (or any toy) under a blanket
or cushion. Have your child lay down and record if they could still feel the
ball. Your children can keep adding blankets, pillows, and cushions until they
lay down and can’t feel the ball. How many cushions did it take?
*Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Apple – Have your child
draw an apple and help them label the parts. They remember from earlier this
school year where the parts of an apple are including the stem, leaf, skin,
flesh, skin, and core. If you have apples to spear, cut one in ½ to make a
stamp and create science related art
*Texture Rubbings Use items you find in your house or out
in nature for this project- lay an object under a piece of paper and have your
child use a crayon holding it horizontally to draw/ rub over the object to see
the details of the texture.
READING
*Three
Bling Mice- Read or listen to the nursery rhyme. Make a chart of words that
rhyme with “three” and “mice”
*Favorite
Fairy Tale- Read your child’s favorite fairy tale. Send me a video of your
child answering these questions: 1. What is the title? 2. What is the fairy
tale about? 3. Why is it your favorite? I will post these to the blog (you
can also post to our new Facebook page).
*Fairy Tale Words Ask your kids to make a list of words they
think of when they thing of fairy tales, like “princess” or “hero” or “story”.
You can give hints to get them to come up with more words. When they give you a
word, ask them what letter they think that word starts with. Can they name
other fairy tale related words that start with the same letter? How many words
can they come up with? You could choose to do something different like explain
that “fairy” starts with “Ff” and see how many other words that start with F
can they think of
*Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Name all the dwarfs with your
child- try to give them hints if they need them. Have your child pick a few of
their favorites and see if you can sound out how to spell their names together
( Happy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Dopey)
WRITING
*Practice
letters- t b f n m i u c o a g d s e r– on sky writing sheets
*New
Letters- Use this time to help your child learn lowercase p.
ART
*Castle
Art- Using a black crayon, draw a castle. Add a background- flags, bridge,
moat, knights, dragon, princess, etc. If you have paint, paint in the castle,
otherwise, use many other colors to fill in the drawing.
*Blindfolded
Paintings- Blindfold your child and allow them to paint
without seeing. Take blindfold off and ask your child to describe their
painting. If you do not have paint, draw with markers, crayons, etc.
*Jack And
The Beanstalk – Use green crayons, markers, tissue paper, paint (whatever materials
you have) to cover toilet paper/ paper towel rolls. Add cotton balls on top for
clouds.
*Crown
Making Fold paper in half length wise and cut down the middle. Attach to
make one long strip and let your child decorate however they want with whatever
materials you/ they choose. Fit the “crown” on your child’s head a tape the
ends together.
*Magic
Mirror Use tin foil to wrap a flat piece of cardboard and allow your child
to decorate their “magic mirror”. Stickers work great with this project
